Well we’ve had a bit of an exciting time here at Wild Rose…on a personal note we’ve just moved house, which is terrifically exciting! A real proper house with much more space and a garden, feels very grown up and just what we needed because in our old place we were pretty much bursting at the seams…
But it’s been a bit of a crazy time because we ended up moving house just a few days before we were due to go to Moscow in Russia – this was a holiday with a bit of teaching Russians cardmaking as well.
We went to a consumer+trade craft show in Moscow, and I taught some cardmaking classes on the RTO stand while we were there..here are some pics!

Here the lovely Julia is translating for me, as I don’t speak Russian unfortunately.. but I have to say RTO (they are our Russian distributor) were brilliant at making us feel at home, they were very friendly and nice to us, so we appreciated that a lot.

The Russians are really into their cross stitching, fabric crafting, embroidery and making things for the home, but cardmaking and stamping are still very new there. It was very interesting to wander round and see the differences in the products on offer.
Another funny thing was that the editor of the Russian equivalent of Cross Stitch Gold/Cardmaking & Papercraft – called Craft Formula – came over to see me and was very excited that I was there. Apparently a great many of my cardmaking projects have been syndicated over to Russia via their magazine and I have a following there. I had no idea but of course it was nice to hear it! Here’s a pic..

So we did an interview and publicity pics which I imagine will go in the magazine sometime.
I have to say we had a really good time in Moscow – the people were nice and there are some stunning buildings to see…

Since I love food, another highlight was trying as many local specialities as possible! I had a proper Chicken Kiev from a Ukrainian restaurant, Borsch which is a local soup made from beef and beetroot, Pelemeni which are dumplings filled with meat, rye bread and more. Matt tried Kvass which is a local non-alcoholic brew made from breadcrumbs – it has a bit of a reputation but it was quite nice actually!
